Eligibility
Requires physician certification of a terminal prognosis (generally six months or less). Medicare hospice benefit, Medi-Cal, and most insurance accepted.

Typically 1-3 business days; urgent admissions prioritized.
Service limitations
Hospice care focuses on comfort rather than curative treatment. Availability of 24/7 continuous care may depend on clinical need and staffing.

Founder & Chief Executive Officer
A hospice and palliative medicine physician, Dr. Shamsian founded Golden Gate Hospice Care to deliver equity-driven, culturally responsive end-of-life care. He also serves as a hospice physician for the County of Los Angeles Department of Health Services and was a 2026 nominee for the LA Times Studios Executive Leadership Awards.
Services offered
In-home hospice care, inpatient hospice care, palliative care, respite care, in-home dementia care, telehealth visits, bereavement and grief counseling, spiritual and psychological support, medication management, wound care, durable medical equipment, and dedicated case management.
Areas of expertise & community focus
End-of-life and palliative care for cancer, dementia, heart disease, HIV/AIDS, renal failure, and neurological conditions. Culturally responsive, affirming care for Latino/Hispanic, LGBTQ+, and HIV-positive communities. Multilingual team: English, Spanish, Farsi, and Tagalog. Catholic hospice support (Holy Communion, Last Rites) available.
Payment & cost
Medicare, Medi-Cal, and most private insurance accepted. Services provided at no direct cost to patients and families.
Administrative office Mon-Fri 9:00 AM-5:00 PM; after-hours and on-call care available.
